Los Angeles Beach Wedding
I’m sure when one says Los Angeles visions of tanned denizens come to mind as well as the beaches that allow them this luxury. Sunbathing is of course not the only activity one can have on a beach. In fact different beaches will have different activities it is best for. The Los Angeles County has more than 30 miles of beaches so we’ll have lots of choices for whichever activity you and your family have in mind.
If you have not decided on what activity you would like to involve yourself in or if members of your family each want to do different things the Santa Monica State beach would be ideal. It is the first beach you’ll come across after the Santa Monica freeway. The beach is wide with white sand and there are big parking lots. It is a beach for socializing in the morning as well as the evening as summer evening concerts are held here regularly. It is also good for sunbathing, walking, biking, skating but not surfing. For our necessities: the restrooms are well maintained, there is a lifeguard and cafes scattered around the area.
For an activity oriented beach Zuma Beach County Park and Redondo State Beach are the places to go. Redondo’s white sands are south of King Harbor. You can access it through Torrence Boulevard or the Pacific coast highway. This is a busy beach with excursion boats as well as private ones lined up and restaurants and shops fill the pier. One can choose from fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, volleyball, surfing, cycling and jogging to pass the time.
If you are a music enthusiast you’ll not be left out as during summer there are usually several jazz and rock concerts scheduled. Not to worry there is a lifeguard year round. As for Zuma beach, this is a favorite of teenagers wanting to get that tan complexion. It is located one mile after Kanan Dume Road off the Pacific Coast Highway. If its facilities you want they have it in spades: lifeguards, volleyball courts, children’s playgrounds, concessioner stands and plenty of restrooms. Its activities range from beach sports to fishing, diving and kid friendly activities in the playground. A downside though is the surf is rough so one has to stay alert.
Surfing has once again hit an all time high popularity wise with the help or our actors and actresses in Hollywood. The best beaches for surfing in L.A. would be Malibu Lagoon State Beach and Surfrider Beach. These beaches just off the Malibu pier are a surfer’s dream because it consistently churns out three to five foot waves. If you are an avid surfing fan, come by in September because the International Surfing contest is held here.
If you love watching people as others are wont to do Venice beach fits the bill. You will feel like you have been transported to a different dimension or a carnival at the very least. There are magicians, fire eaters, different kinds of street performers, vendors hawking a gamut of products, body builders and if I’ve missed anything which I probably have my excuse is you just have to experience Venice beach to understand. Have fun!
